I don’t know about you, but this whole year feels like someone has kissed the wrong frog. Instead of 2020 becoming a Prince of a YEAR like we’d originally envisioned, it became more like a nightmare none of us could have imagined.
Stress levels have reached an all-time high, and COVID has genuinely given us all four of the top stress producers in one fail swoop. Money, Family, Work & Health issues can create extreme levels of stress. WHAM! Look no further than 2020 to give you all four at once.
THE GOOD NEWS IS… we’ve got less than 100 days left in this year. Yes, it’s true. We’re creeping into the final quarter of 2020.
But, don’t just sit back and “make the best of it”, end this unprecedented year with one of the quickest, research proven ways to UP-LEVEL YOUR MENTAL GAME…….encouragement!
I know, you’re thinking that’s too easy. Encouragement can’t change the way my brain works. But, I’m here to tell you it can, it does, and it will.
A research study from The University of Pennsylvania on the effects encouragement concluded that: frequent verbal encouragement leads to significantly higher levels of effort and has a profound impact on performance. So, take this data into the last quarter of 2020 and encourage yourself. Say something nice to YOU every morning of the final 98 days. Encourage a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor, a family member….. because it’s proven to WORK!
We can’t change COVID and we can’t change 2020, but can surely change the way we THINK about it!
Just look at what a little encouragement did for this frog. I read a story recently about a group of frogs who were walking in the woods when two of them fell into a deep hole. All the other frogs gathered around and peered into the hole saying “It’s too deep, you’ll never get out of there!”
Regardless of what the other fronts said, the two frogs both began jumping with all their might. All they wanted was to get out of the hole and back into the woods. As the first frog jumped, he could hear the other frogs saying,
“Don’t spend your last minutes like this, just relax and let it happen.”
As the frog began to get tired, he did just that….. He lay down and died!
The other frog just kept jumping and jumping and jumping. The frogs started yelling at him jumping up and down saying, “STOP! It’s no good. You’ll never get out of that hole.” But….. the frog kept jumping higher and higher, until he landed back on the ground.
You see…. this frog was deaf and unable to hear the negative words of the other frogs. Instead, he thought all their screaming and jumping was to encourage him to try harder. AND HE DID!
Moral of this story is, WORDS have the power to change our lives. What type of words are you choosing?
Start today, begin with yourself! Encouraging words just might get you out of a hole.
